Hagi comes from the forest, from a conversation during a walk, from a tree that humbles us and from a desire to surround ourselves with meaningful and durable objects we can identify with. As a manifesto, it is a research object built around three principles : being entirely clean, rebuilding the bond between humans and their objects, and embracing a vision of desirable durability beyond trends. Scalable for industrial production, this project is supported by Biesse and won the Bois et Design competition organized by Fibois Normandie in 2023. Winner of the third edition of the FD100, it has been recognized for its positive global impact.
ARCHITECTURAL
OBJECT
Between furniture and architecture, the boundary here is subtle. Like a framework, Hagi relies solely on the balance of forces among its ten components. Precisely crafted with CNC technology, its raw oak pieces interlock like a puzzle, ensuring perfect force distribution with no weak points. As in an architectural structure, each part serves the whole and only makes sense when assembled. A miniature structure, it invites everyone to assemble and disassemble it, fostering understanding and ownership. This process creates a unique connection between humans and objects, encouraging us to rethink our relationship with possessions and their value.
So, is it a stool or a scaled-down temple? We’ve got our opinion.
SIMPLE
SO SIMPLE
Fully aligned with our approach of simplification, Hagi is a single-material object that balances complexity with extreme simplicity. Every component has been meticulously designed to ensure simplicity at every stage of its lifecycle : cutting, machining, packaging, shipping, assembly, disassembly, repair, and even waste management. Delivered as a kit, it can be assembled or disassembled in just one minute without any tools. Made from raw wood, without glue, nails, or screws, it naturally adapts to its hygrometric environment and stabilizes on any type of floor.
