Komorebi is a wooden lamp. Inspired by the Japanese term for sunlight filtered through tree leaves, it is a celebration of life. As an allegory of the tree, it creates a soft and natural light that evokes the play of light in forests. Blending poetry and craftsmanship, it filters and transforms artificial light into a soothing and vibrant experience, making you feel as if you were in a forest
FOREST
LIGHTS
Handcrafted using two types of wood, Komorebi brings together two varieties of oak : the base is sculpted from Normandy oak, while the lampshade is made up of 288 pendants of bog oak, also known as Morta, is a precious wood extracted from the Brière marshes. Naturally submerged in a forest-turned-marsh for hundreds of years, the oak became fossilized, acquiring shades ranging from brown to black. The extraction of this oak is strictly regulated and limited to two weeks per year, making it particularly rare. This unique combination of oak gives Komorebi its distinctive sculptural character, through which light gently flows. The bog oak, submerged for so long, is now brought into the light, reaching toward the canopy.

INTERACTIVE
BY NATURE
Komorebi is by design an interactive object. Its vines of pendants, delicately suspended, sway with an almost organic fluidity in response to the movements of a person in its immediate environment. This subtle movement creates two simultaneous effects : the pendants, in a delicate motion, collide, creating a unique white noise accompanied by smooth and gentle light variations. The boundary between artificial light and natural light becomes imperceptible, creating a dialogue between the object, the person, and the environment.

Komorebi combines two types of oak : Normandy oak for the base and rare bog oak, extracted from the Brière marshes to constitute the 288 pendants. Fossilized over centuries, the bog oak’s dark hues give the piece its unique sculptural character, allowing light to gently flow through, bringing this ancient wood into the light.
